    Hi everyone,

    This is an unscheduled email with some urgent news for you all. We'd like to bring to your attention some important goings-on in the VPS hosting industry.
     
    Last week our primary Data Center had massive issues with a number of server nodes which were rendered useless after getting compromised through the HyperVM VPS provisioning software, as well as through the LxAdmin/Kloxo hosting control panel. The HyperVM/LxAdmin/Kloxo software (developed by LxLabs) was exposed as having severe security vulnerabilities, and some of the largest VPS hosting providers had over 80% off their entire server node farms compromised and data destroyed. Hundreds of servers have been damaged and thousands of customers have lost all of their data. This morning, the lead developer of LxLabs committed suicide.

    Fortunately our systems were stable and largley unaffected, though customers on Server2 experienced some instability as our firewall took the strain of the issues. However this reminds us all of the vunerabilities and potential for massive problems.
     
    There are three important considerations that we like to remind you about here:
     
    1.) A VPS is an economical way of getting a server environment. However as it is sharing a server, inevitably this is a security vulnerability. We manage this as best as possible and todate we are very proud of our track record. However we can only be responsible for the hardware in the event of such an issue and as such your stored content is ultimately YOUR responsibility.

    2.) If you want to host your data in the most secure environment, then a dedicated server is the only way to go. Shared hosting, VPS hosting, cloud hosting all operate in shared environments and can never substitute a dedicated server where you and only you are being hosted. If you are interested in getting a dedicated server, please contact us and we can provide you with a competitive quote. However dedicated servers start from £60 per month.
     
    3.) Backups are absolutely necessary. We do not backup your data unless you choose to add it as an option.
